What should I keep silent for?

As you might have already noticed, I am located within the core of the Catholic world, at least they're my neighbours, Vatican City, and I live in Rome, which, were it in my possibilities, I would conceal and set apart from the rest of Italy..., and I'd have reasons for doing that. On one hand there's a land of claimed peace, there's the Catholic church, whose policy has drastically changed within the last century, whose activity has somewhat finally matched with its moral and discipline. On the other hand, there's a government eager to wage war against somebody who has never threatened us in anyway, whose capital city holds important memories of days of yore, for Catholics in particular. I do not object the reasons US might have to drop their missiles anywhere in the world, if I lived there I could feel threatened as well. The bottom line here is that basically I am witnessing a governemnt, the italian, whose people's protests are unheard, and, a governent doesn't make much sense if it doesn't respond to what its population's needs and wishes are. Being against a war we do not have reasons to lead or participate isn't merely a wish, it is a principle, a matter of sincereness towards other populations..., kids, families, poor, soldiers, churces, ancient buildings, life,...I don't want my country to play a part in their destruction, I am not willing to witness my fellow countrymen lay their weapons on harmless children, still cities and factories, schools and farms. September the 11th has messed up the whole world because americans wanted it to. But the world has always been upside down, we do as we don't say, we say what we'll never do. According to William Golding, there are two ever present traces featuring humankind as far as we can get back in time; killing and shaping objects (weapons nonetheless). Terrorism has always been a part of many a country's history, and, does it really matter whether the number of victims is different? Anyhow, George Bush hasn't been given an easy presidency, he speaks for his nation, most of the americans agree with this war on Iraq, therefore I wouldn't feel like saying anything to them. I am just aware of the fact that our premier's favourite audience is George Bush, Ignorance, Egotism and Carelesseness, rather than italian folks; this bothers, this is no good, this isn't going to get us anywhere...we're still too far behind if we keep supporting deaf leaders, who know how to get votes by promising money...., a very naive but working bait for the italian housewives and near-to-retirement persons...don't you think?
But when it comes to do his job, to listen to those who voted him, to appreciate our good-natured peace protests...he says he shall not be intimidated...how hilarious....nobody ever meant to intimidate a president with a manifestation..., marching for peace and human rights and civilized nations rights ( ONU basic principles ) are meant to support the soon-to-be innocent victims of any single conflict, doesn't matter whether it involves Iraq or Sierra Leone. Could our President and his wife and his daughters possibly talk about these matters when they dine? What do they care about? What's their concern? Aren't they scared of dying? Aren't they scared of staring at mutilated victims of wars? Don't they get impressed and frightened by a one-armed wheel-chaired innocent? Did they ever take a look at those piles of Jews' bodies laid on one another, bare, starved to death..? To blow up somebody with a bomb ain't much different, ...and if our President claims he's got reasons for participating a war, then he should even accept that Totalitarianist governments had reasons for causing the mess they did. They were evil, our President is no evil to our eyes, we know that. But what if we were kids raised up in Iraq? Would we deem Berlusconi a good-hearted person, whose good name and deeds spread all over the planet? I definitely don't think we would. Let us just share foreign popolations' feelings and moods.
Thanks for bearing such a rhetoric and nowhere to end speech.., I don't mean to insult anybody. Nevertheless I am a citizen of a precise country which is going to wield its weapons without its people's will and without conscience.., this is what I am ashamed of.

April the 2nd 2003.
It's been a while now since the "Iraqi Freedom" operation got started, and a strategy such as that of Shock and Awe lfet me dumbstruck, even though I am unwillingly witnessing the events far from where the mess is happening. How base and mean is to get hold of a concept such as Democracy and claim themselves to deliver it to where it doesn't belong. It is not a product, neither is it an item, but rather a natural step forward within the historic process of any country or community on earth. Needless to say it's to Iraqi folks to determine their fate, not to anybody else. How awfully proud this coalition is to boast about their latest technology weapons, Massive Ordnance Air Blast, E-Bombs, Jdams, anything else? I assume in all such praising of modern warfare devices, they might even forget about those principles of Liberty and Democracy they say they're performing a war for, which shouldn't have any price, but which Iraqi civilians are paying with their lives, and their children's lives. It's up to you to draw any conclusion.
